About Us

Operation Good News (OGN) is a ministry focused on following Christ’s command of going into all the world and proclaiming His gospel of love. This includes reaching out to the poor and destitute of world, bringing them a message of hope, and supplying them with the basic needs that all human beings should have, such as food, a place to have shelter, education, clothing, basic standard of hygiene, and medical care.

Presently approximately 250 million live on less than $1 per day, and another 700 million live on less than $2 per day. At the moment our primary outreach is to India where poor hygiene kills 500,000 children each year. India has approximately 1.15 billion people and is estimated to increase to 1.53 billion by 2030. This would most likely make India the largest populated country in the world.

Two thirds of India’s population lives in the rural areas, mostly in villages. India has over 500,000 villages. It is in these villages that we find the tribal people, who are the poorest of the poor, with severe problems of inadequate healthcare, lack of financial resources, high levels of illiteracy, and very limited access to social services. Operation Good News is primarily involved in tribal areas like these.

It was on the first missions trip to India in 1993, that I met an Indian man who wanted to help the poor children and the women in his village, and over time a commitment was made to support this work. OGN was incorporated in 2003 to better facilitate this work. The orphanage started with one child, and over the years has grown to up to 35 children. The Children’s Home is located in one village, but the presently children come from seven different surrounding villages. Currently the number of children in the home fluctuates between 25 and 32 children.

We support these children as best we can with the basics, food, shelter, clothing, medical needs, and help them to maintain proper hygiene. Part of our current vision is to build these children a proper home where they would be provided with beds, tables to eat on, proper meals, and yearly medical check- ups. We also hope to provide transportation such as a van or a bus to transport the children. The response to our fund raising efforts will determine how soon these projects will be accomplished.

In addition to our work with children, OGN works with local and tribal pastors through pastor’s conferences and spiritual leadership gatherings. We offer encouragement and hope, strategies for spiritual development, and provide financial help whenever we can for their ministry in pastoring and evangelism work. We are also engaged in working with women and youth to help them experience the love and power of God in their lives.

Our outreach also extends to other missionaries in support their work locally and overseas. We also support our local community outreaches such as clothing and food drives, and providing financial support and material to people in our local community.

In addition to the commission of Jesus in Matthew 28: 18 – 20 we have adopted the words of the prophet Isaiah, “ How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7)
